Hello and Welcome! Glad you made it here! This is the main page for our class blogs. Once you establish your own blog, send me the URL for your blog. (This is one of your class assignments on D2L.) I'll get you on the blog roll and you can start receiving visitors to your blog and visiting other class blogs. To get to another blog, you'll just click on the name of the blog on the blog roll.
Step One: Get a Google E-mail Account. Just go to Google and click on "G-Mail" in the upper left-hand corner of the page. http://www.google.com/
Step Two: Establish your blog using Blogger. Just go to www.blogger.com. Follow the instructions to create your own blog. Be sure to use your own name for the Display Name. You can name your blog something other than your own name, but I'll need your own name for the Display Name. It's best when doing the "profile" portion of your blog that you use a picture of yourself, but it's not absolutely necessary.
Your first assignment is to write a blog entry of at least three paragraphs. Make the first paragraph about your past, the second about your present, and the third about your future. (You can find this assignment in Module One as well.)
Step Three: Send me your URL through the assignment portion of D2L. Important! When you post an assigned writing on your blog, you MUST also "turn it in" on D2L. You will not receive credit for it if you don't.
That's it!
Some hints for a successful start to your blog:
Remember to customize your blog. Make it your own. Use pictures. I'd love to see your own photography, but you can get them from off the web too. (If you get them from the Internet, make sure they are free and you are not stealing someone's work. You can get free photos at a number of sites like http://www.freefoto.com/index.jsp, or http://acobox.com/. (There are lots of other sites too.)
If you are new to blogging, you can always look around the web and find some examples to explore.
Remember: Your blog WILL NOT be private! ANYBODY will be able to get on and view your blog. Write only about things that you wish to share with the world.
